Finally, WONDER is here!
My most vulnerable and most revealing live performance yet ended up being a therapy session!
This weekend was healing.
There’s an exhaustion that I see in all of the faces of my brothers and sisters who continue to fight for the rights of black people in America. I feel extremely blessed to have had this weekend to be a part of what can only be described as catharsis. Thank you to my band, who came to the bandstand open and willing to be used. Thank you to my beautiful, successful, and steadfast friends who travelled from so far and provided the medicine of BFF time, laughter, and Black Girl Magic. And, a massively huge thank you to the over 200 of you who came on the journey with me. Out in the completely sold-out, standing room only audience, I saw a timeline of my growth as a musician and as a person. From my Mimosa Park days all the way through to now-you were all there.
Thank you for laughing, crying, and most of all, thank you for helping to create the therapeutic space we shared for 90 mins. YOU are the “Wonder”
