On August 28, 1963, more than 200,000 Americans marched through the streets of Washington, DC for jobs and freedom. In honor of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, vocalist, composer, and clinician, Rochelle Rice, presents songs of the social justice and the Civil Rights Movement. In an engaging and interactive “informance,” Rochelle will take listeners on a journey through the social justice causes, key figures, and the empowering music of one of the most transformative eras of American history.

Rice is joined by bēheld, a new women's vocal group which features social justice songs of the past 75 years in conversation with today's pop and soul hits. Born out of the pandemic, the group has blossomed over the past three years, performing at worship events, conferences, public demonstrations, and at the vigil honoring the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. bēheld is comprised of Jen Hayman, Julie James, Norah Quinn McCormick, Loyce Pace, Meg Parker Young, Rochelle Rice, Nicole Rumeau, and Melinda St. Louis

The region’s most acclaimed jazz musicians are returning to the ever-popular Jazz in The Parks on the Great Lawn this summer – this year, with a fourth, additional concert due to popular demand. Opener at 5p, with music starting at 6p.

The Tell Her This Project is a visual art, music, and storytelling experience created by music artist, Rochelle Rice.
In a journey of words, music, and visual art, this live performance features vignettes of the Tell Her This Podcast woven between songs that deepen our understanding and appreciation of the story and the storyteller. Also featured, the premiere of Rochelle Rice’s, Strong Like Water, a multidimensional series of portraits and sound.
